Artworks with poems

For me, painting is a little like an archaeological dig. I begin working the surface with a hint, an idea, a feeling – or sometimes no notion at all – of what lies beneath. As I work, fragments begin to surface, slowly at first, until the whole work reveals itself.

Often, the visual imagery stands on its own. Other times, I feel compelled to write a poem to complete the piece. As always, the meaning belongs entirely to you: take the poetry as a companion to the artwork if you want, or simply let the visual work speak for itself.
